A reminder to myself

I constantly think that I'm going too fast- that I should slow down and not skip around the bible too much. That I should stop highlighting or at least tone it down. I thought my bible was too worn out, too used and then God showed me that a bible is meant to be lived in. Now I don't bully myself when I make a mistake with my highlighters (and that took a while to learn). A few days ago, I typed this out before I dove into the book of Daniel:

Don't give up on Jesus. Don't give up on God. Just because you think you're going too fast and your bible's too colorful doesn't mean that it's too much. Doesn't mean you can't rediscover verses. You can still dig and dive into Scripture that you've already seen. Don't give up. Keep going.

my roots go down for miles...

My red shoes are so worn down when they used to be so bright. I used to play on the swings and to swing up to the trees but now I get nauseous whenever my feet leave the ground and I look up for too long- almost as if my feet are my roots that need to stay down within the ground. I liked moving through the trees at the constant and steady decline of the hill. I liked the way my feet felt on the solid, deep and dirty forest ground. I liked all the shades of brown.

A comment on vanilla muffins and snow

One of my favorite things to do recently is to bake different recipes of vegan muffins that I find on the internet. Today I baked vanilla ones and they turned out amazing! I've got four recipes so far. Especially since it's been snowing a lot, it makes the kitchen feel warm and smelling of vanilla! Pure bliss! I don't understand how people think that the snow is depressing. White (admittedly, cold) fluffy flakes are falling from the heavens and they cover everything. The trees, the birdbath, the bushes, the fake mushroom, fences, sidewalks, everything. (It's so quiet out there). I have fully accepted this weather for what it is, by the way. Snow in spring? Okay fine. I accept this unusual weather for what it is. Not even upset and I got muffins so it's a win-win to me.

CAT Poetry

 black, winding
stretching, lying
soft and distant
close yet far
companion of ease
touching you
licking and purring- ever content
gleaming eyes, observant, watchful
curious and elegant- present
